Thanks to all the Community Chefs, Bakers, volunteers, sponsors and event attendees who helped make our 11th annual Men Can Cook a success! With over 600 in attendance, the event raised nearly $60,000 to help support the programs and services of the Women’s Resource Center.

In an effort to help with the Building the Futures of Women capital campaign launched on August 15, 2001 a group of caring volunteers and supporters set in motion the WRC’s signature fund raising event Men Can Cook. The first Men Can Cook event was held in 2001 at the Painted Plate in Greensboro, and raised just over $6,300.00. In 2006, Men Can Cook added an exciting iron Chef Cook-Off experience featuring three of the area’s leading and most respected Professional Chefs battling it out in Kitchen Stadium Greensboro.
Quickly becoming one of Greensboro’s “must attend” events, Men Can Cook moved to the Greensboro Coliseum’s Special Events Center in 2008. This annual WRC fundraising event has grown to include a silent auction featuring over 200 valuable gifts donated by community businesses and individuals; 50 Community Chefs, local men, who offer donated samples of their signature dishes; and lively entertainment.
We are thrilled to have the Men Can Cook in the Greensboro Special Events Center, featuring 50 local men who dazzle the crowd with their culinary skills. We are excited to continue to offer an exciting competitive component – this year featuring some of Greensboro’s finest culinary talent in the Battle of the Bakers – a decorated cake competition. An incredible silent auction adds to the fun while everyone enjoys the food, demonstrating that Men Can Cook!
In 2012, with continued community support,
Men Can Cook raised
nearly $60,000.
